"How much does a website cost in the UAE?" The only honest answer: it depends on what the website has to do — and anyone giving you a fixed price before asking is selling, not scoping. A brochure site and a bilingual e-commerce platform with BNPL, marketplace integrations and Arabic SEO are different products the way a studio flat and a villa are different properties. Same word, different thing.

This guide will not invent a price list — the market moves too fast and your requirements are your own. Instead: what actually drives cost, how to compare quotes fairly, the questions that reveal whether a quote is honest, and the red flags that mark the ones that are not.

WHAT ACTUALLY DRIVES WEBSITE COST

  • Scope of functionality. The dominant cost driver. Brochure pages are cheap; custom quoting engines, booking systems, membership areas, multi-vendor marketplaces and ERP integrations are not. Every interactive feature multiplies design, build and testing effort.
  • Bilingual build. A proper Arabic/English site is not a 10% uplift — it is substantially more work: RTL layout, mirrored templates, translated and localised content, hreflang setup, and double the QA. See our Arabic SEO guide for what "proper" entails. Quotes that treat Arabic as a toggle are underestimating or cutting corners.
  • E-commerce complexity. Product count, variants, payment methods (cards, Apple Pay, BNPL per our BNPL guide), shipping rules, marketplace integrations, returns workflows — each adds build and testing cost.
  • Design originality. Template customisation vs bespoke design is a real cost fork. Bespoke wins on differentiation; templates win on budget and speed. Be honest about which you need.
  • Content. Copywriting, product photography, videography — often underestimated, frequently the actual bottleneck. A beautiful empty site converts nothing.
  • Integrations. CRM, ERP, booking systems, marketing automation, WhatsApp commerce — each integration is a mini-project with its own testing surface.
  • SEO foundations. Technical SEO, information architecture and page-speed work built in from day one cost far less than retrofitting later. Our web development includes this as standard, not as an add-on.

PROJECT TYPES, DESCRIBED HONESTLY

  • Brochure / lead-gen site. 5–15 pages, contact forms, WhatsApp integration, basic SEO foundations. The right choice for services businesses validating or establishing presence. Fastest to launch.
  • Content-rich / SEO-driven site. Brochure plus a serious content architecture: service hubs, location pages, blog infrastructure, bilingual content. Higher upfront investment, built to compound — the pattern behind our SEO engagements.
  • E-commerce store. Product catalogue, payments, shipping, BNPL, marketplace feeds, returns. Cost scales with catalogue size and integration depth. Do not underestimate product data work — clean data is half the project.
  • Custom platform. Bookings, memberships, multi-vendor, portals, web apps. Scoped as software, priced as software, and rightly so — this is where "website cost" questions need reframing as product investment.

Match the project type to your actual stage. The most expensive website is the custom platform built for a business that needed a brochure site — and the second most expensive is the brochure site rebuilt six months later because it could not grow.

HOW TO COMPARE QUOTES FAIRLY

  • Demand itemised scopes. A quote that says "website: AED X" tells you nothing. Insist on line items: pages, features, integrations, content, revisions, timelines. Compare scopes first, prices second — the cheapest quote for a smaller scope is not cheaper.
  • Check what is excluded. Content, photography, copywriting, Arabic translation, SEO, training, post-launch support — exclusions are where budget surprises live. A complete quote lists exclusions explicitly.
  • Ask about the bilingual line item. If Arabic is in scope, where is it in the quote? Vague bilingual promises without a line item mean it will be done badly or billed later.
  • Verify the portfolio honestly. Look at live sites the agency built, test them on your phone, check their speed. Pretty screenshots prove nothing; live performance proves everything.
  • Ask who actually builds it. Subcontracting is normal; undisclosed subcontracting to the cheapest bidder is not. You are entitled to know whose hands are on your project.
  • Get the maintenance terms in writing. See ongoing costs below — post-launch support is where cheap builds become expensive.

UAE-SPECIFIC FACTORS THAT MOVE THE PRICE

  • Bilingual is standard, not optional for serious UAE businesses — budget it from the start rather than discovering it mid-project.
  • Payment integration breadth: UAE checkouts expect cards, Apple Pay, regional wallets and BNPL — each gateway is integration and testing work. Our payment UX guide maps the landscape.
  • Delivery and logistics logic for e-commerce: emirate-based shipping rules, same-day promises, courier APIs — see our logistics guide.
  • Regulatory content: sectors like healthcare, finance and real estate need compliant content and disclaimers — check current regulations; building compliance in is cheaper than rebuilding after a violation.
  • Hosting and data: discuss hosting location and data-handling expectations with your developer; enterprise and government-adjacent clients may have specific requirements.

ONGOING COSTS: THE SECOND PRICE TAG

The build quote is half the economics. Budget annually for: hosting and domains (including .ae renewals), SSL and security, platform licences and plugin renewals, maintenance and updates, content production, and marketing (a site without traffic investment is a brochure in a drawer — see our Google Ads guide and SEO services). Ask every bidder for a first-year total cost of ownership, not just the build price. The honest agencies will give it; the others will change the subject.

RED FLAGS IN UAE WEB QUOTES

  • A fixed price with no discovery. No serious agency prices a project before understanding it. Fixed prices without scoping mean a template being resold or corners pre-cut.
  • "Free SEO included" with no specifics. Real SEO foundations are specifiable work (site architecture, schema, speed budgets, hreflang). Vague promises are worthless.
  • No staging or testing process. If there is no staging site and no defined QA, you are the QA — and you are paying for the privilege.
  • You do not own the assets. Domains, hosting accounts, code repositories and admin access must be in your name. Anything else is a hostage situation with monthly fees.
  • No post-launch support terms. Every site needs updates. "Call us if anything breaks" is not a support plan.
  • Pressure tactics and expiring discounts. Professional services do not have flash sales. Walk away.

WEBSITE COST IN THE UAE — FAQs

Why do quotes for the "same" website vary so much?

Because they are rarely for the same website. Scope differences — bilingual depth, integrations, content, SEO foundations, support — hide inside similar-sounding proposals. Itemised scopes make the real comparison visible.

Is a cheap template site ever the right choice?

Yes — for validating an idea, establishing basic presence, or testing a market before committing. The mistake is not choosing cheap; it is choosing cheap while expecting bespoke results, then paying twice.

How much should we budget for Arabic?

Expect a substantial uplift over an English-only build: RTL templates, professional translation/localisation, double QA, hreflang setup. Get it as an explicit line item — and never accept machine translation as the deliverable.

What is a realistic timeline?

Brochure sites: weeks. Content-rich bilingual sites: 1–3 months. E-commerce with integrations: 2–4 months. Custom platforms: quarters, not weeks. Anyone promising a complex build in days is describing a template, whatever they call it.

Should we build with WordPress, Shopify or custom?

WordPress for content-driven sites, Shopify (or regional platforms) for standard e-commerce, custom where the business logic genuinely demands it. The platform should follow the requirements — beware agencies that sell one platform for every problem.
