Overview

Find What Is Holding You Back

An SEO audit is a detailed check of everything that affects how a website performs in search: whether Google can crawl and index it, how fast it loads, how well pages match what people search for, and how much authority the site has.

Most websites that struggle to rank have a handful of problems doing most of the damage, such as pages blocked from indexing, duplicate content competing with itself, slow mobile pages or missing local signals. A good audit finds those and puts them in order of impact.

We audit our own websites the same way, using crawl data, Search Console, Semrush and our own checks. Every audit ends with a prioritised action list, not a hundred-page export of warnings.

What we build

What Our SEO Audits Check

Crawling and indexing

Robots.txt, sitemaps, noindex tags, canonicals, redirects and pages Google has not indexed.

Site speed and Core Web Vitals

Loading, responsiveness and layout stability on mobile, with the causes identified.

On-page SEO

Titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links and keyword targeting for key pages.

Duplicate and competing pages

Pages targeting the same searches and splitting rankings between them.

Content quality

Thin, outdated or unhelpful pages judged against Google's helpful content guidance.

Structured data

Schema errors and missing markup for your business, services, products and FAQs.

Local SEO

Google Business Profile, NAP consistency, local pages and map pack visibility.

Backlinks and AI search

Link profile quality, and whether AI crawlers and answer engines can read and cite your site.

How we work

How an SEO Audit Works

  1. Goals and access

We agree what the site needs to achieve and get access to Search Console and analytics.

  2. Full crawl

The whole site is crawled to collect technical and on-page data.

  3. Data review

Search Console, analytics, rankings and backlink data are analysed alongside the crawl.

  4. Competitor comparison

Your site is compared with the sites ranking above you for your key searches.

  5. Prioritised action plan

Findings ranked by impact and effort, with clear instructions for each fix.

  6. Walkthrough and fixes

We talk you through the findings and can implement the fixes if you want us to.

Getting value from an audit

An Audit Is Only Useful If It Gets Fixed

Prioritisation matters more than the number of issues. Automated tools flag hundreds of warnings, most of which make little difference. An audit should say clearly which few issues are costing you rankings and which can wait.

Tools do not understand your business. A crawler cannot tell that two pages are competing for the same service, that your location is wrong on half your pages, or that your most profitable service has no page at all. That judgement is what turns data into an audit.

AI search is now part of SEO. Google AI Overviews and assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity draw on pages they can crawl and trust. We check AI crawler access, structured data and whether your content answers questions directly.

Implementation is where results come from. Because our team includes developers, we can fix technical problems on WordPress, Shopify and custom sites rather than leaving you to find someone who can.

After an audit, most clients move on to ongoing SEO services, local SEO or ecommerce SEO. Agencies can also buy audits as white label SEO.

Questions

Frequently Asked

What is included in an SEO audit?

An SEO audit checks crawling and indexing, site speed, on-page SEO, duplicate pages, content quality, structured data, local SEO and backlinks, and ends with a prioritised list of fixes.

How long does an SEO audit take?

Most audits take one to three weeks depending on the size of the site and how much data is available.

How much does an SEO audit cost?

A standalone technical SEO audit typically costs £900 to £2,500, depending on the size of the site and how deep the analysis goes. Larger ecommerce sites sit at the upper end. See our guide: how much does SEO cost in the UK.

How often should I audit my website?

A full audit once or twice a year suits most sites, with an extra audit after a redesign, migration or sudden drop in traffic.

Can you fix the issues the audit finds?

Yes. Our developers can implement technical and on-page fixes on WordPress, Shopify and custom-built sites.

Why is my website not ranking on Google?

Common reasons include pages not being indexed, content that does not match what people search for, pages competing with each other, slow mobile pages and low authority compared with competitors. An audit identifies which apply to your site.

Where are you based?

Our studio is at 174 Wilmslow Road in Manchester, and we audit websites for businesses across the UK.
