SEO Migration ServicesSEO migration services for businesses changing website, platform or domain. We plan and check every step so the rankings, links and enquiries you have built move with you, not away from you.
An SEO migration is any website change big enough to affect how Google finds and ranks your pages: a redesign, a move from WordPress to Shopify, a new domain, merging sites, or restructuring URLs.
Migrations are one of the most common reasons a business suddenly loses Google traffic. Old URLs stop working, redirects are missed, content disappears or internal links break, and months of rankings can drop in a week.
We build and run websites ourselves, so we handle migrations from both sides: the SEO planning and the technical work of redirects, templates and launch checks. It is the same process we use on our own sites.
A full record of every URL, title, heading, canonical and ranking before anything changes.
Every old URL mapped to its closest new equivalent with a permanent 301 redirect.
Titles, descriptions, headings, structured data and copy carried over or improved, never lost.
Menus, footers and in-content links updated so no page is orphaned.
The new site crawled and tested before launch, blocked from indexing until it is ready.
Redirects, robots.txt, sitemaps, canonicals and tracking verified the day you go live.
New sitemaps submitted, Change of Address used for domain moves, errors watched.
Rankings, traffic, crawl errors and indexing tracked for weeks after launch, with fixes.
What is changing: design, platform, domain, URLs or content, and which pages matter most.
Crawl the current site and record rankings, traffic and links for top pages.
Build the redirect map and content plan, page by page.
Crawl the new site, fix gaps, and confirm redirects work before launch.
Go live, submit sitemaps, and check everything within hours.
Compare against the benchmark and correct any drops quickly.
Missing redirects are the biggest cause. When an old URL returns a 404, Google eventually drops it, along with the links pointing to it. A complete redirect map, tested before launch, prevents most migration losses.
Redirect chains and temporary redirects leak value. Every old URL should point straight to its final new URL with a 301, not through several hops or a 302.
Content often gets thinner in a redesign. Shorter pages, removed FAQs and missing headings can cost rankings even when every redirect works. We compare the content of important pages before and after.
Some temporary movement is normal. Google needs time to recrawl a changed site, so small fluctuations in the first weeks are expected. A well-run migration recovers quickly; a poorly run one keeps falling.
Planning a new site? See our web development, Shopify agency and WordPress services, and our SEO audit services for a pre-migration check.
SEO migration services plan and check a website change, such as a redesign, platform move or new domain, so that existing Google rankings, backlinks and traffic carry over to the new site.
Not if the migration is planned properly. Most losses come from missing redirects, lost content or broken internal links, all of which can be prevented with a redirect map and pre-launch testing.
With a well-planned migration, small fluctuations usually settle within a few weeks as Google recrawls the site. Larger or longer drops point to a problem that should be investigated.
Yes. We plan the URL mapping, redirects and content transfer for platform moves, including WordPress to Shopify and the reverse.
At the start, before designs and URLs are finalised. Fixing structure and redirects during planning is far cheaper than recovering lost traffic after launch.
