Free ToolIs your marketing actually profitable? Plug in six numbers and find out — revenue, gross profit, net ROI, ROAS and your break-even cost per acquisition, calculated live.
Most businesses guess at marketing ROI. This free ROI calculator replaces the guesswork. Enter your monthly spend, average CPC, conversion rate, average order value, close rate and margin — it instantly shows expected revenue, gross profit, net ROI percentage, ROAS and the maximum you can afford to pay per acquisition.
The maths behind it is the standard marketing ROI formula: (Gross Profit − Cost) ÷ Cost × 100. We've built it into an interactive tool so you can model scenarios — what happens if conversion rate rises 20%? What if click costs climb? Move the numbers and see.
Use it before you brief an agency, before you raise a budget, or when the finance team asks "but what's the return?". And if the numbers say your current spend isn't working, our PPC team or SEO managers can usually tell you why in one free consultation.
Monthly spend converted into projected sales revenue.
Revenue minus your cost of goods, using your margin.
True return after all costs — the number finance cares about.
Return on ad spend: revenue per £1 of marketing.
The maximum cost per acquisition you can afford.
Change any input and watch every output update live.
Monthly spend, avg CPC, conversion rate, average order value, close rate, gross margin.
Type your numbers into the calculator — results update instantly.
Check net ROI % and break-even CPA first. Those drive decisions.
Test "what if conversion improves 25%?" before spending a penny.
Estimates only — for planning, not financial advice. Close rate defaults to 100% for direct ecommerce; set lower for lead generation.
The calculator above uses the standard ROI formula — ROI = (Gross Profit − Cost) ÷ Cost × 100 — extended with your margin and close rate so the "gain" is real gross profit, not vanity revenue. ROAS (return on ad spend) is simply revenue ÷ spend; break-even CPA is gross profit per customer: the most you can pay to acquire one customer without losing money.
Two worked examples. Ecommerce: £2,500 spend at £2.50 CPC, 3% conversion, £150 AOV, 60% margin → £4,500 revenue, £2,700 gross profit, +8% net ROI, 1.8x ROAS. Tight — this store needs cheaper traffic or better conversion (see our CRO service). Lead generation: £2,500 spend, 5% of visitors enquire, 20% close, £1,000 average job, 70% margin → £10,000 revenue, £7,000 gross profit, +180% net ROI, 4.0x ROAS. Healthy.
The most common mistake is ignoring margin and close rate — revenue-based ROI flatters bad campaigns. If your calculator result looks painful, that's the tool doing its job: fix the funnel before scaling spend.
ROI = (Gross Profit − Cost) ÷ Cost × 100. For marketing, "gain" should be gross profit (revenue minus cost of goods), not revenue — otherwise the ROI flatters the campaign.
A 5:1 revenue-to-cost ratio (400% revenue ROI) is a common benchmark, but it depends on margin. Low-margin businesses need higher ROAS; high-margin services can profit at 2:1. Use the calculator above with your real margin.
ROAS (return on ad spend) is revenue ÷ ad spend — simple but ignores margin and overhead. ROI subtracts all costs including cost of goods, so it tells you actual profitability.
Break-even CPA = average order value × gross margin × close rate. If each customer brings £90 of gross profit, you can spend up to £90 to acquire one before losing money. The calculator above computes it live.
For lead generation, a website "conversion" is an enquiry, not a sale. If 5% of visitors enquire but only 20% become customers, true ROI must reflect that — otherwise you'll overvalue the campaign 5x.
